'BIG BANG BLACK HOLE AT CERN’ Experiment

Way back in 1979 Scotland Electronics (International) Ltd (SEIL) began involvement with contract electronics design and manufacture within CERN.

In the early days SEIL managed to become involved with manufacturing electronics for CERN projects, not knowing then what an important part this and continuing work with CERN would become.

More recent contributions to CERN’s work have focussed on their computing requirements. Working with Intel, who have designated SEIL as an ‘Intel Premier Provider’, and with CERN’s specifications, SEIL designed, constructed and delivered 2700 in number server computers, made up of computational and storage systems. SEIL also provided the maintenance facilities by working closely with a locally based company.

The previous and on-going work for CERN has been significant in the latest LHC and ATLAS experiments and will no doubt be so for the future. SEIL intends to nurture the close links that it has with the major European and USA scientific organisations.

In addition to CERN, SEIL has designed, constructed and delivered complex computer systems for the European Space Agency, which the technology has flowed from CERN.

In recent years SEIL has not just concentrated on computing but has achieved continuing success with a range of motion control products that have been designed and delivered to a range of world-wide ‘blue-‘chip’ military/defence, space exploration, offshore oil/gas, aerospace companies and organisations including NASA, BP, BAE Systems, Selex, Thales, Aker Kvaerner, MSI Defence, Northrop Grumman, Lockheed Martin Services and GE Aviation/Smith Aerospace.

SEIL is a company that has achieved ISO 9001:2000 and who works in close partnership with its clients in order to supply the highest quality products and services. SEIL is particularly proud of its links with CERN and wishes the project team continued success with their groundbreaking experiments.

Most of SEILs contracts with CERN have been on a non-profit basis in order that SEIL can make a significant contribution to scientific development and the common good of mankind.
